Ritual Art: Time and Space, 2015
The sixth edition of The Оld School Art Residency took place in Gorna Lipnitsa between 14-23 August 2015. The theme of the residency was Ritual Art – Time and Space.
The events was organised within the framework of the project Оrganizing and conducting of The Old School residency on the topic of Ritual Art – Time and Space financed by a grant under BG 08 Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Arts Programme of the EEA financial mechanism – Small grant scheme „Contemporary art and culture presented and reaching a broader audience”.
The work of the artists during their stay in the art residency was organized on the basis of previously prepared written materials connected with various manifestations of Time and Space.
Views on Time and Space in the Bulgarian folklore, religious and esoteric rituals along with theories of Time and Space in the modern physics were used as a starting point for work in the residency.
Like magicians who choose the proper time and space to perform their rituals, the artists in the residency created Ritual Art by using the main characteristics of Time and Space.
Ritual Art is essentially a Slow and Thoughtful art.
Although the particular creative act happens at the present moment, it is in a constant connection with past and future.
In creating Ritual art the Artist perceives the various manifestations of Time and Space and uses them accordingly so that he can achieve its ultimate goal of public significance.
